    Why Dr.Manmohan Singh?

    Why Dr.Manmohan Singh?

It’s funny how kids and adults alike without proper education (or) questionable political knowledge mock Rahul Gandhi, Dr.Shashi Tharoor and Dr.Manmohan Singh.

Why does everyone have this one stagnant opinion about our best & most qualified leaders? It’s funny how kids and adults alike without proper education (or) questionable political knowledge mock Rahul Gandhi, Dr.Shashi Tharoor and Dr.Manmohan Singh without knowing their qualifications, their legibility & how much of an asset they are.

Dr.Singh has multiple degrees from various well known institutions like Oxford, St.John’s college (cambridge), Panjab University. So the part about his legibility is clear, because most of the public seems to mock him for his silence.

Dr.Singh originally worked at the United Nations before joining Indian politics. He held key posts like:

Chief Economic Advisor (1972–76), governor of the Reserve Bank (1982–85) and head of the planning commission(1985–87).

During the 1991 economic crisis, Dr.Singh was made the Finance Minister under P.V.Narasimha Rao. He went on to liberalize India’s economy through his reforms (which is widely forgotten today, this was nothing short of a miracle as this save would be the base for India to become the “fastest growing economy”)

In 2004, when the UPA government came to power, Dr.Singh was made the Prime Minister for all the good reasons. He brought in the Rural Health Mission (which was changed to “National Health Mission” in 2013), UIDAI & the very important Right To Information Act (which empowers every citizen to question the government. Notably, the Modi government has been trying to get rid of the same, I wonder why?)

Another controversy he faced was when he signed the Indo-US Nuclear deal in 2008. The deal was to separate civil & military nuclear facilities and to place the civil facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency (United Nations) and in exchange, The United States would give India full civil nuclear cooperation (which is good for the country whichever way you look at it, but the left parties withdrew their support after the deal was signed)

Most of the times, the unfortunate terrorist attacks during his regime are pinned on his face like it was his fault, like the 2008 mumbai terror attacks and maoist insurgency.

After the 2009 general elections, UPA was faced with numerous corruption charges till 2014, when Dr.Singh decided to drop out of the premiership race.

    Corruption Charges & People Responsible:

    1. Suresh Kalmadi was charged with corruption for the Commonwealth Games Scam.
    2. A.Raja was charged for the 2G spectrum case.
    3. Subendhu Amitabh, D. Bhattacharya, Kumar Mangalam Birla, P.C. Parakh were summoned regarding the Coal Allocation scam(coalgate)

None of these names look like Dr.Singh to me, why is such an honorable man having to deal with all this when he was merely trying to save the country. Just because he did not like being the center of attention 24/7 for 10 years does not give anyone the excuse to give him flak.

He turned 87 years old recently, wishing him a long & healthy life.
